Days 1–2 · Colombo & Negombo
- Land in Colombo, sleep one night near the airport in Negombo to recover.

Two weeks is the sweet spot for Sri Lanka — long enough to surf the south coast, take the famous hill-country train and see a temple or two, but short enough that you don't try to do everything.

November to April for this exact route (south coast season).
$30–80 USD a day on a hostel/guesthouse backpacker budget, more if you add private drivers and boutique stays.
Fly into Colombo (CMB). Coastal trains, buses, the Southern Expressway and PickMe long-distance rides all work.
This itinerary is built around the south coast surf and yoga scene that Wake N Flow calls home, plus the hill-country and cultural triangle highlights that make a Sri Lanka trip feel complete.
It's designed for travellers who want a balance — some surf, some yoga, one cultural day, one safari, and the famous train ride through the tea estates. Adjust as you go; nothing here is a rush.
A loop that starts and ends in Colombo, with the surf coast at its heart.
Reserve 2nd-class seats on the Colombo–Galle and Kandy–Ella trains via 12go or your hostel — they sell out in season.
For 30–90 minute hops along the south coast, a PickMe car or van is often cheaper than a private driver.
You'll move every few days — one carry-on and a small daypack is plenty.
This itinerary stitches together three Wake N Flow hostels on the south coast — Weligama, Ahangama and Hiriketiya. Book all three in one trip and we'll help with transfers between locations.
